The HR Coordinator will work closely with the HR Manager and HR Generalist to provide support to employees and management to maximize the company’s human resources goals and objectives. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Coordinator will be responsible for a broad variety of administrative duties in a thorough and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining HR personnel files using Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
  • Create, run and distribute standard an custom reports from HRIS System
  • Assist with recruitment activities, conducts pre-screens and reference checks, coordinates interviews, maintain active job postings
  • Administers company benefit plans as well as manages STD and LTD claims
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions about human resources policies and procedures and refers to HR Generalist or HR Manager as needed
  • Maintenance of various HR databases
  • Maintains communication bulletin boards
  • Provide administrative support to all members of the HR team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a unionized environment;
  • Knowledge of HRIS software packages;
  • Experience in administration of benefits and other HR programs
  • Creation of HR SOP, written correspondence such as minutes, memos and letters

Skills/Competencies:

  • Exceptional multi-tasking abilities and prioritization skills
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Organized, proactive and results oriented
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality is critical to this role

Education/Training:

  • A bachelor's degree and/or College Diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience in the field
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (French is a strong asset)
