Basic Function and Scope:
As a member of the multidisciplinary team the Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) performs a variety of complex diagnostic tests on patient specimens following established procedures within the Laboratory and in compliance with the standards of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) and Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (MOHLTC) lab licensing and inspection service.
Hours of Work: Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends) as required.
Pay Rate: Will be in accordance with the Wage Scale of the S.E.I.U. Local 1 Canada, Paramedical Unit Collective Agreement, classification of Registered Technologist.
Qualifications:
Education: CSMLS Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology conforming to Regulation 682, Article 6(3).
Experience: Previous hospital experience, as a Medical Laboratory Technologist is preferred.
Registration: Registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
Required Skills:
- Certified in Transportation of Dangerous Goods, preferred;
- Computer literate and good keyboarding skills;
- Demonstrated technical proficiency, with the ability to perform work accurately and efficiently;
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education;
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team environment;
- Must have previous proven good performance and attendance record.
