About Rechargeable Battery Materials in Canada
Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.
What you will be doing
For this new site, we are looking for a Site HR Coordinator, reporting to the HR Manager. The Site HR Coordinator will provide local HR administrative and coordination support in the execution and engagement of a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, policy development and review, and employee relations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Site HR Manager and both internal and external recruiters and assist in driving overall recruitment initiatives
- Provide offer process support by assisting in the preparation and issuance of offer letters, employment contracts, and other related documentation
- Coordinate new employee onboarding activities and provide support to new employees during their integration
- Provide support in expanding cooperation with local colleges and universities
- Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and issues, providing timely and appropriate resolutions or escalating matters as necessary
- Contribute to fostering a positive workforce environment through collaboration on employee engagement initiatives and activities
- Support the Site HR Manager in ensuring compliance with local employment laws and company policies
- Assist in implementation and communication of HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistent and fair practices across the site
- Analyze data trends to identify insights and propose actionable recommendations for HR and management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations
Who we are looking for
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
- Working knowledge of HR policies, practices, and procedures
- Strong understanding of Ontario employment laws and practices
- Proficient in HRIS and MS Office Suite
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, approachable attitude
- Strong problem-solving abilities with an emphasis on handling sensitive and confidential information
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and prioritization abilities
- Analytical capacity and a proactive approach to challenges
