Come join us and help to support people in living their best lives.   |   Pathways to Independence requires a Support Worker, Dual Diagnosis to work in a Casual capacity to provide assisted living support for adults. Under the direction of the Client Services Manager, the Support Worker supports adults living with a dual diagnosis with activities of daily living such as homemaking, personal care, community and personal development skills in accordance with the person’s individual service plan. The Support Worker will implement established strategies and behavior management plans under the general direction of the Manager and Counsellor. The Support Worker ensures that the person’s services and supports promote their rights, choices, self-determination, and independence, and builds personal and community living skills.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Secondary School Graduation, and a minimum one-year post-secondary certificate in Human or Health Sciences (Personal Support Worker or equivalent). Proof of education is a condition of employment.
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Valid G class driver’s license

Ideal candidates will also have experience and abilities aligned with the key responsibilities, which includes:

  • Demonstrate a person-centered philosophy and commitment to agency vision, mission and guiding principles.
  • Experience working with adults with a developmental disability in a community based, group living or independent living environment.
  • Provide effective services and supports to supported persons.
  • Manage and maintain accurate client information and documentation.
  • Participate in and ensure a positive team environment.
  • Shift work including evenings, weekends, nights and holidays. May work with clients who have aggressive behavior.
