The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) is located along the St. Lawrence River in the south-eastern corner of Ontario. SDG is “Where Ontario Began”, and is rich in heritage, tradition, and culture with an abundance of historical sites, great events, and beautiful attractions. With a population of 65,000, SDG is primarily rural yet close to urban centres such as Cornwall, Ottawa, and Brockville.

Working with Counties staff, local municipal staff and vendors, the IT Support Technician provides frontline IT support for technology systems and services; and visits Counties’ and local municipal offices to deploy systems, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Receive and resolve service desk requests, track resolutions and maintain information in knowledgebase. Verify information contained in request and priority of request. Provide timely diagnosis and resolution of request. Communicate progress and resolution with requestor. Classify and escalate requests where appropriate.
  • Onboarding/offboarding - create and delete user accounts and access to various systems including network and email accounts where appropriate. Create/deactivate building access key fob as authorized.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot end user hardware, devices, software and corporate applications. Apply updates to desktop operating system and security software.
  • Assist with the maintenance and implementation of various technology and communication systems across the County.
  • Ensure the secure operation of corporate systems through following and ensuring compliance with County policies.
  • Contribute to the improvement of IT service policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in computer related field, certification in enterprise desktop administration with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in an IT support environment with demonstrated ability in troubleshooting, configuring and managing information and communication technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with office productivity suites, databases, enterprise systems, document management systems and collaboration tools.
  • Logical thinker with excellent communication, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven strong ability to set priorities and multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
