Since 1949, TVCC has been working with children and youth to help them reach their full potential. Today, a wide range of services and supports are provided for young people with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders to support them in attaining the best available quality of life and health. In partnership with local and regional agencies, TVCC annually serves more than 11,000 children, youth and their families from birth to age 19 across Southwestern Ontario in over 700 locations. 

We are currently recruiting for a permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week) Therapy Assistant in the Early Childhood, School Age and Adolescent Program (ECSAAP).

The designated office for this position is Owen Sound. Travel and service delivery within Grey and Bruce counties is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide services within Preschool Speech and Language, Early Childhood Services and Family and Community Services
  • Assist with direct/indirect client intervention (individual and group) across ECSAAP services;
  • Assist with a variety of client/family programs at TVCC locations and in the community with community partners;
  • Coordinate and support educational group activities for clients and families;
  • Gather information, develop resources and obtain supplies for variety of activities;
  • Support clients in personal care as needed;
  • Client-related activities requiring supervision will be provided under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Therapeutic Recreation Therapist as per their respective college or provincial guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a recognized Communicative Disorder Assistant or OT/PT Assistant program; Communicative Disorders Assistant preferred;
  • Working knowledge of child language development and play;
  • Experienced with individuals who are non-speaking and/or have physical disabilities;
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal); organizational, interpersonal skills and effective problem-solving skills;
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office 365 and videoconferencing software (e.g., Teams);
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are required;
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification;
  • Ability to provide services in French would be considered an asset.
