Curves offers a 30-minute, total-body workout that includes strength training, cardio, and stretching. Members get personalized coaching, both during workouts and in monthly coaching sessions, to help them reach their fitness and health goals.

The Fitness Circuit Coach instructs and coaches groups or individuals in exercise activities:  demonstrates techniques and form, observes participants, and explains corrective measures necessary to improve their skills.

Performance of service focused tasks includes:

  • Building custom solutions to encourage member retention.
  • Participating in any in-center promotions.
  • Conducting Monthly Coaching Sessions, review/set new goals.
  • Completing outgoing MIA calls and customer checks.
  • Completing the process for membership renewals and cancellations.
  • Coaches may be needed to assist in emergency situations by thinking on their feet, calling 911 and/or administering first aid/CPR.
  • Curves coaches must believe in the Curves program and have a passion for helping others meet their fitness and/or weight loss goals.
  • Curves Complete coaching as outlined above in Curves Complete Roles and Coaching Responsibilities.

Circuit Coaching Activities

  • Ensure safety of members on the circuit.
  • Maintain member engagement through motivating, energetic, approachable, polite, compassionate, and encouraging coaching.
  • Possess knowledge of the circuit exercises, ability to follow scripts and have credibility to explain exercises and movements to members. Understand and explain target heart rate zones.
  • Provide one–on–one coaching for first three workouts, refresher workouts, and as needed.
  • Help members stay focused on results and goals, actively engage, push, and motivate them to success with caring support.
  • Coach specialty classes on the circuit, successfully master monthly descriptions.
  • Coach members, correct, compel and celebrate as outlined in training material.

Sales/Membership:

  • Curves maintains an approximate 80% sales rate which means eight out of every ten guests become members. Team members are responsible and accountable for making sales presentations and consultations to potential members. The sales process includes evaluating the needs and goals of the potential member, explaining the prices, and overcoming objections, obtaining referrals and completing membership agreements.
  • Confirm all appointments; call any no shows to reschedule within 24 hours, follow-up with no sales.
  • Memorize price presentations.
  • Responsible for upgrading member programs and presenting and selling additional products to meet member fitness and diet needs.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge (bars, shakes, supplements, apparel, and bra fittings).
  • Enter all member transaction information into Curves Operating System.

Guest Production:

Curves relies on both internal and external marketing to produce new guests. Each staff member should be required to participate in guest production activities which may include marketing outside the center.

  • Memorize the phone script.
  • Schedule appointments for all incoming calls and walk-ins.
  • Schedule appointments for potential members & reschedule any missed appointments within 24 hours.
  • Acquire Buddy Referrals, meet daily quota of one referral per shift.
  • Strategically use OS reports to make targeted outbound phone calls (minimum quota of 5 outgoing calls per shift).

Administrative/Other:

  • Responsible for seeking self-development through training to expand knowledge by attending staff meetings and trainings, completing on-line training and quarterly Continuing
  • Education sessions. Meetings and trainings include pre-work, actively participating in role playing and skill building exercises, and passing all certifications.
  • Possess working knowledge and skills of the Curves Operating System.
  • Log into Curves OS at the beginning and end of each shift to record hours worked.
  • Complete administrative tasks as required.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures regarding standards of dress, attendance, timeliness, and professionalism. Must have flexible schedule and be able to work days and evenings.
  • Light cleaning such as vacuuming, dusting, cleaning equipment, mats, and restrooms.
  • Process travel/transfer and medical holds as necessary.
