Morrison Hershfield's Transportation Division provides planning, design and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit/rail, bridge and related projects. We are currently seeking a Junior Inspector to conduct field work to complement our transportation team. The Junior Inspector will play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional/preliminary and detail design assignments primarily for public sector clients. Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers growth in the areas of technical/professional development and project management. These positions are based in Cornwall, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Carries out assigned inspection activities to ensure conformance to the contract requirements
- Documents site activities obtaining relevant information on the contractor’s operations, processes, procedures, etc.
- Provides support as required to the Senior Inspection staff
- Provides support for Quality Assurance field survey activities
- Assists in monitoring the contractor’s quality control activities
- Assists in compiling field data in report form for review by the contract administration team
- Assists with Quality Assurance sampling and testing tasks
- Provides quantity/payment verification support as needed
- Supports contract/field office administration staff as needed
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician or equivalent
- Designation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Junior Inspector (rcji) Technology/Technician is an asset
- Previous engineering/construction experience is an asset
- Prior experience working on MTO projects or municipal infrastructure projects is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Exposure to and ability to comply with Company and industry H&S requirements, policies, practices and procedures
- Able to work on weekends, nights, shift work, additional hours as required
- Proficiency with MS Office
- A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Able to travel and work in the greater Cornwall and surrounding area
