Waterside Summer Series Music Festival is a registered charitable organization created to promote primarily classical music by presenting a limited number of exceptional concerts in July and August on Amherst Island. For most of the past 30 years, world class musicians have performed on the intimate Waterside Stage located at St. Paul’s Church, Amherst Island.

The Waterside Summer Series is seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Coordinator to drive our digital presence and engage with our audience. As the Social Media Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and managing our marketing campaign across social media platforms, as well as educating our existing Board of Directors on effective social media practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and execute social media strategies for the Waterside Summer Series.
  • Manage official social media channels (Facebook Page, Instagram Page).
  • Create and curate engaging content related to ticket sales, performers, upcoming shows, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of performances.
  • Monitor comments, messages, and inquiries, responding promptly and professionally.

Audience Engagement:

  • Understand and segment our core demographics (geographic, age, classical music enthusiasts).
  • Interact with the audience, fostering a sense of community and enthusiasm.

Campaign Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align social media efforts with overall marketing strategies.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Engage others to share content:
  • Develop and maintain connections with organizations, sites and pages in the local area that will share content about Waterside.
  • Develop and maintain connections with classical music sites in the area to share Waterside content.

Performance Promotion:

  • Encourage performers to promote their appearances on their own social media channels.
  • Provide performers with relevant materials from Waterside for their use.

Media Relations:

  • Work closely with media outlets (TV, radio, print) to provide press releases for key moments (season announcements, individual performances).

Email Blasts:

  • Assist in creating email blasts to be sent during the off-season to maintain audience engagement.

Volunteer Development:

  • Provide sessions in social media literacy to the volunteer members of the Waterside Summer Series Board of Directors.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram).
  • Strong content creation skills (written, photography, video).
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Prior experience in media relations is a plus.
