The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting team to provide financial reporting and analysis. Produce and control day to day accounting operations. This may be for a small portfolio or supporting Senior Accountants, Assistant Controller and Accounting Manager with their portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliation for a small portfolio of companies or supporting larger companies within CaraCo Group
- Maintain the general ledger and participate in month end close processes
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and identify and investigate irregularities
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
- Prepare/review journal entries at month-end for accuracy and trends
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts for portfolio of companies.
- Coordinate and work with accounting team to ensure deadlines are met
- Inter-company processing as required.
- Assist with year-end engagement requirements
- Prepare variance analysis reports as requested.
- Identify and analyze problems and recommend appropriate actions.
- Support accounts payable/receivable team from time to time
Education/Experience
- College diploma in finance or accounting
- Minimum 2 years combined experience in accounting and finance.
- Working towards CPA designation preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and MS Office applications (Word, Access, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
