George Jeffrey Children’s Centre is a paediatric health facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario providing occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, social work, behaviour therapy and recreation services to children and youth with physical, communication and developmental needs. 

George Jeffrey Children’s Centre is seeking a Communicative Disorders Assistant to work as part of our collaborative team providing speech and language services within the City of Thunder Bay and surrounding area. Responsibilities include providing individual and group interventions for communication issues, creating/revising communication boards and programs, providing training and education to clients and their caregivers, preparation and maintenance of program materials and resources, and maintaining progress notes. Some travel within the District of Thunder Bay may be required.

To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Communicative Disorders Assistant Degree or Diploma
  • Be registered with CDAAC
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of an inter-disciplinary team
  • Ability to collaborate with service partners, families, caregivers and other stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative and flexible
  • Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication is an asset
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle

Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities is considered an asset. Bilingualism English/French is considered an asset. Passion for providing the best possible standard of care, understanding of paediatric rehabilitation services, and exceptional people skills are key to succeeding in this role.
