**CALLING ALL BCaBA’s®**
The Behaviour Clinician will directly provide client care to indigenous children within the school and classroom setting. You will be expected to effectively communicate with school and education staff members regarding client progress while being respectful of the cultural environment, traditions and teachings.You will assist the teacher and school staff with supervision of activities, recess, breaks and field trips. You will support during instructional periods and complete any daily tasks requested by the teacher. You will develop all programming and support plans for your client under the supervision of a BCBA.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
May include but not limited to:
- Provide direct client care in assigned 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
- Develop, monitor and supervise behaviour support plans for each supported individual, targeting areas of skill acquisition and reductions in challenging behaviours programs that incorporate evidence-based practices in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
- Implement all clinical skills instruction and behaviour reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the school setting.
- All programs are to be completed using company templates provided and organized into each client’s binder.
- Conduct functional behaviour assessments and functional analyses to inform individual treatment plans.
- Effectively communicate with other interventionists, school and education staff members regarding client progress while being respectful of the cultural environment and teachings.
- Actively participate in team and/or parent meetings, documenting client progress and observations through detailed client case notes and documentation.
- Attend and complete all mandatory professional development opportunities.
- Provide direct coaching of behavioural strategies with teachers and TAs if requested.
- Assist with client supervision during instructional periods, recess, lunch and field trips.
- Provide a safe, appropriate, caring and nurturing environment when working with clients.
- Complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment within the school.
- Follow all policies and procedures as specified in the employee handbook including confidentiality and adhere to PHIA laws
- Model professional and compassionate care.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
May include but not limited to:
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
- Ability to work as a positive team member within the school environment.
- Ability to develop and implement clinical protocols, programming, data collection and case notes.
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
- Must be able to lift, carry and maintain a variety of postures to complete all necessary teaching and cleaning duties as specified.
- Must be willing and able to blockhold/transport and utilize quick body movements as instructed in any Behavior Intervention Plans while working with children with challenging behavior.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technology skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently, with a minimum of supervision required.
- Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standards.
- Maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up at all times.
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and flexibility, while exhibiting superior skills in communication, collaboration, professionalism, and courtesy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have experience working with children and youth with exceptional needs.
- Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst® (BCaBA®) certification preferred.
- Experience implementing evidence based support and programming to children and youth clients.
- Completed Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) 40 hour Certification is considered an asset.
- An undergraduate degree or diploma in Behavioural Psychology, Behavioural Science, Psychology, Behavioural Interventions, Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Educator, Disability Supports and Services, Social Services Worker or equivalent/higher education will be considered.
- Experience within similar fields will be considered.
- Experience working with Indigenous population, knowledge of culture, traditions and language is an asset.
- Possess a strong knowledge in the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis, the fundamental elements of behaviour change, and ethical professional practice.
- Must have up to date vaccinations including the complete Covid -19 Vaccine.
- Must have a current police record check including the vulnerable sector check.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License & insurance in good standing.
Other Details
- All positions are Full Time, Fixed Term Contracts from September 2024-June 2025 (10 months) with potential to renew the following school year.
- Competitive salaries based on qualifications and work experience.
- Relocation incentives may be available. (Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a work visa at this time.)
- Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per contract year based on qualifications and experience.
