Cadets will be assigned to district platoons for the duration of their contract period. At times, cadets will be temporarily redeployed to assist in special events, emergency call outs and other duties as determined by the Chief of Police. 

Cadet members shall: 

  • Be responsible for the duties assigned to them by their immediate supervisor;
  • Be responsible for Halton Regional Police Service property assigned to them (in accordance with service directives;
  • Maintain a notebook;
  • May perform the duties and functions as required.

How To Apply:

The recruiting process typically consists of information sessions and the submission of applications that follows our hiring process. Subsequent stages involve interviews, psychological testing, background investigations and medical examinations. Candidates are invited to download the application package and HRPS Waiver.

Work Duration and Salary:

  • Individuals hired as Police Cadets with the Halton Regional Police Service will be paid a salary for the duration of their one year work experience program.
  • Work term commences: TBD.
  • Candidates will be assigned varied shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
