Reporting to the Pub Manager, the Team Supervisor will provide guests of St. Larry’s Pub an outstanding dining experience adhering to high standards of quality and service. The Team Supervisor believes that a positive attitude makes a team succeed and is passionate about culinary arts. St. Larry’s Pub Team Members work hard to keep the restaurant running smoothly and represent the Student Association with excellent hospitality and timeliness.

Duties:

  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of the pub team who prepare, portion and serve food, and set a high standard for efficient cooking.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to all staff.
  • Displays an excellent ability to both participate and motivate the staff through on and off-peak meal service times.
  • Coordinates with the Pub Manager and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective stock replenishment by overseeing the inventory of supplies, ingredients, and equipment.
  • Prepares, cooks, and serves all menu items with a high standard of quality and efficiency as required to create a positive dining experience for guests.
  • Conducts regular inspections of food and drinks to verify freshness, presentation, and accuracy.
  • Uses preparation times wisely to ensure St. Larry’s Pub is prepared for both on and off-peak meal times.
  • Assists the manager in supervising daily operations and ensuring proper opening and closing procedures are followed by pub staff.
  • Fosters open and effective communication with all staff, this includes reporting to the Pub Manager to address any issues or concerns to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Follows all St. Larry’s Pub policies and procedures to align with operating objectives and ensure that food and service meet quality control standards.
  • Assists Human Resources to ensure health and safety regulations are enforced by setting quality and safety controls and train staff in sanitation and safety procedures in accordance with health and safety standards and St. Larry’s Pub policy.
  • Trains new and existing staff in food safety, quality of service, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitors and oversees the maintenance, cleanliness, and performance of equipment and reporting to the Pub Manager of any deficiencies.
  • Avoids cross-contamination of foods by ensuring proper food storage and organization are followed in all areas.
  • Abides by all St. Larry’s Pub, and St. Lawrence College policies and code of conduct.
  • May perform other duties as reasonably required by the Pub Manager.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience with food handling in a fast-paced restaurant environment is required.
  • Completion of a college or other program related to culinary arts, hospitality or food and beverage service management is considered an asset.
  • Safe Food Handlers Certificate required.
  • Smart Serve Certificate required.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Precise attention to detail, order, and cleanliness.
  • Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to provide leadership
  • Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
  • Ability to connect with students, socialize and communicate to diverse student groups.
  • Occasionally may lift heavy objects (50lbs)
