Tipi Moza is a small but vibrant and evolving non-profit organization. We are seeking to hire a full-time Support Worker to join our team. In addition to education and experience in the Social Services field, applicants must have a general knowledge of the history of Indigenous people in Canada within the context of the impact of that history on Indigenous people today. They must have a clear understanding of the importance of culture in healing, and a sincere interest in providing services that will encourage resiliency in our clients and enhance their overall wellbeing.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO QUALIFIED CANDIDATES OF INDIGENOUS ANCESTRY WHO SELF-IDENTIFY AS SUCH.
Position Responsibilities:
The position of Indigenous Supported Independent Living (ISIL) worker reports to the Executive Director of Tipi Moza (Iron Homes). The ISIL worker plans and implements services and supports to Indigenous persons who are at risk of homelessness and may also have a developmental disability, a dual diagnosis, mental health, behavioural challenges. The ISIL Worker guides and coaches the supported person to make positive decisions and build personal, community and cultural living skills. The ISIL Worker ensures that every supported person understands their rights and responsibilities, and provides services and supports, including facilitating cultural supports, to the person based on their needs, interests, and goals.
